How do I join Naptown Roller Derby (NRD) as a skater?
NRD holds regular information sessions and workshops teaching the basics of skating and roller derby. Those who attend our workshops will be evaluated for membership in our league. Learn more here!
If you need to purchase gear, we recommend shopping with our friends at Derby Warehouse.
Do you accept transfer skaters from other leagues?
We evaluate requests for transfer from skaters in good standing with another league. We also consider applications from skaters with significant roller derby experience who qualify to bypass our introductory workshops. Please contact firstname.lastname@example.org for information.
Do you have volunteer opportunities for those who don’t want to skate?
Yes! NRD is a community of skaters, coaches, referees, non-skating officials (NSOs) and other volunteers. We always need help to staff our practices and events — and we love and value our volunteers, who are invited to participate in special events, such as our end-of-season celebration. For information on how to volunteer, contact email@example.com.
When is your next event and how can I buy tickets?
For more information on our upcoming bouts and other events, visit our Events page. Purchase advance tickets for our bouts online at Brown Paper Tickets (fees may apply), from NRD skaters or at one of our local business partners:
Strange Brew (Greenword)
Indy CD & Vinyl (Broad Ripple)
Half Price Books (Avon, Ditch and Greenwood locations)
We also sell tickets at the door. Follow us on Facebook for more information on upcoming events.
Can I sponsor or donate goods and services to NRD?
Sponsoring NRD is a great way to get your business in front of our community of active and enthusiastic skaters, volunteers and fans via our events and popular social media feeds. We also accept donations for goods and services that help promote our mission of providing opportunities to play roller derby and host live events in Indianapolis. We have unique opportunities to connect with our audience, such as our annual silent auction and other fundraising events, and sponsorship packages for every budget and need. Visit our Sponsorship page for more information or contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
How can my roller derby team schedule a bout with NRD?
NRD schedules home and travel bouts for our three teams: our internationally ranked charter team, the Tornado Sirens; our B team, the Warning Belles; and our C team, the Third Alarm. Contact email@example.com with queries about bout scheduling. Please also send invitations to scrimmages, workshops and other similar events to the same email.
Can I drop in on an NRD practice?
We do welcome visiting skaters to attend some NRD practices. We ask for a $5 donation for each practice. Contact firstname.lastname@example.org with requests.
Does NRD offer training to individual skaters or teams on other leagues?
Absolutely! We can schedule individual or small group training sessions led by our coaches and the skaters of our internationally ranked charter team, the Tornado Sirens, for a fee. We can also host a workshop for your league at our private practice facility or yours. Contact email@example.com and let us know your specific needs.
Can I interview, photograph or film members of NRD for a media story?
We are happy to work with members of media on stories about our league or roller derby. Contact our public relations committee at firstname.lastname@example.org with requests. Please let us know if you would like to be added to our media contact list or attend an upcoming event.
Will NRD or its skaters participate in my event, campaign or other project?
We consider requests to work with local businesses, individuals and other organizations on events, campaigns and other projects of mutual interest. Contact email@example.com with queries.
Who do I contact with a question that was not answered here?
